Okay, so I know I'm far from old. At 24 I'm still kind of a baby myself, but after chasing a baby around all day and working and cooking and cleaning, I don't get out much. In fact, I haven't had a non-playdate related outting in I don't know how long.
On Monday night my husband and I did something that we've actually never done as a couple. We went to a rock concert. His birthday was at the end of June, and since he was turning the big 3-0 I wanted to do something really special. So I bought a tiny scrap book and made him a guide for what I was calling his "Summer Music Tour of Kansas City". It included going to the Jazz club, listening to an acoustic band at a coffee shop, buying records at Vinyl Rennaisance, an awesome CD, and this rock concert.
The concert was awesome. I had partially picked this particular concert because it was in a really cool venue, and it wasn't a disappointment. The lights and smoke machine were amazing, and we spent most of the evening being swayed and girated by the eclectic jams of the group. Not only were the tunes really different, but I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse crowd. It was especially comforting to see that we were not the oldest or the geekiest people in the place. Sure there were a lot of teenagers and college aged people, but there were a BUNCH of married couples as well.
My ears still feel like I went up in an airplane or something, but it was TOTALLY worth it.
PS. Papajama had fun too:).
