Devil's Advocate

I'd be more positive, but I forget what that feels like.

I spend so much time writing and doing things others appreciate and find entertaining, but I'm flat broke and borrowing money for living expenses. In between the tap-dancing, I'm looking for work and not having much luck. I can't believe I made over six figures for so long and now I can't find something that would just allow us to get by... It's very demoralizing, and kind of steps all over that can-do attitude, you know?

I just left my job (well, almost a year ago) and have been so at a loss as to what to do just to earn some money for bills. I get really down on myself because I have a great education and feel I shouldn't be stuck like this. But I think the best thing I've done is give myself the chance to kick the situation around long enough until something feels right. Now I'm pursuing several options that, in the long run, I feel I will continue to be excited about. So hang in there because everything you need is in that creative self of yours, it is just a little stuck for now.

I agree with KathyHowe! Hang in there - this will pass and will make you a stronger person!
I hear ya loud and clear, Mindy. I've absolutely been in your shoes. Hang in there...and keep your eyes wide open for any opportunity that will help pay your bills. Even if it is below your skill level or out of your field, take whatever job you can because you never know if it will turn out to be the job of your dreams.
