I am a woman entrepreneur blogging as I start my own business. My two sons are in college. After raising my boys, working at part-time jobs, and taking leadership roles in volunteer organizations, in 2003 (at the age of 52) I received my Masters in Business Communications from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. I then turned to the business idea I had considered for years, officially forming my company in late December, 2006. My blog about my experiences is called "Light, Motion and Magic" (lightmotionandmagic.com.)
My interests:
Reading, gardening, movies, exercise, lake activities with my family, French, friends, blogging
Impossible...The Call of the Sea by Jan de Hartog, The Master Butcher's Singing Club by Louise Erdrich, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides to name a few.
My favorite movie:
Also impossible...Contact, In America, The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, Lawrence of Arabia, The English Patient, The Quiet American, Sideways, As Good as it Gets.

Parenting advice I follow:
Now that my boys are grown, I always, always try to listen, be open to their ideas, and try to be non-judgmental.
Parenting advice I ignore:
"Don't say no - always explain your reasons to your children."
Hogwash!
When they were young it was VITAL to say "NO!" sometimes and have them obey- just because I said so. If they won't obey you as a 3 yr old they certainly won't obey you as a teenager!
Favorite activity with my kids:
Communicating: talking, emailing, phone conversations - anything I can get during this time that they're so busy with their college lives.
