One kid, one husband, two cats, one mortgage, one job I really love, one hellacious commute, and I live in the DC metro area.
My interests:
I like to read and do puzzle books (watch my Geek Flag fly...). I also like to explore new places, such as that one road I go by everyday but never have time to see where it goes.
How I de-stress:
Wine. Period.
Best advice I've gotten:
To know what matters and what doesn't; what people will care about (and remember) and what will get lost; what you can do and what you shouldn't kill yourself trying to do, and so on.
An adjective to describe me:
Impatient doer
My favorite book:
Too hard to narrow down
My favorite movie:
National Lampoon's Vacation
Family
Number of children:
1
Age of children:
Infant
Parenting advice I follow:
Go with your gut. Close second: Just because it did (or didn't) work for someone else doesn't mean it will (or won't) work for you.
Parenting advice I ignore:
Anything that begins with "This always worked for me..."
Favorite activity with my kids:
My little one is only 11 weeks old, so fun activities are limited to just getting out and about -- he loves to see new things.
Work
Work status:
Work full-time
Industry:
Other
Position:
Personnel Research Psychologist
Employer:
Federal Government
Hours worked per week:
40+
How much I like my job:
I love it!
Job stress level:
Not very stressful
Best thing about my job:
I basically pick my own hours, work on projects I find interesting (and expand my skills), and I work with people I like and can learn from.
Worst thing about my job:
Dealing with some egos and the political bullsh-t -- both within the office and throughout the Government (as in, it can take FOREVER for something to get done because it has to be 'blessed' by so many levels, agencies, etc.)
My dream job:
I pretty much have it -- although I wouldn't object to a shorter commute...
