My Life To-Do List
-
Currently on my Life Wish List:
Learn to play violin
Get nice furniture
Buy a trampoline!
Live in the country
Create a wonderful garden
Lots of beach vacations -
Goals I am working on:
Start daily walking and stretching again
Worry less
Be calm
Plan some travel/getaway time into our lives
Get out in the garden every day, even if I only get a tiny bit of yard work done it will all add up. Right...? -
Projects I am working on:
Never-ending list of house repairs
Animal rescue volunteer work. I usually foster just one dog at a time now that I have a toddler. I also maintain the rescue group's master list of foster animals. It's my job to try and keep track of all our critters. It gets very confusing!
Backyard birding. I've become interested in learning about birds and learning to identify the bird species in my backyard. I've id'd about 25 species so far. My husband calls me The Bird Nerd. Right now I am focusing on building a nesting box for Carolina Wrens. See? Nerdy, huh?
Never seem to make progress on this goal--time! time! Never enough!

Your investment updates: read (and fret) or toss in the recycle bin? I'll go first: I'm tossing them. There's nothing I can do about the economy so why let it raise my blood pressure??

Gas prices are down again. Have you returned to your old driving habits? Or have you permanently changed your commuting pattern?

Do you eat dinner together as a family during the week? I ask because we never manage this -- our daughter (4.5) eats early, around 5:30, and then my husband and I eat late, 9ish. On weekends we do try to eat together. What about you?
Answered on 22nd January 2009:
Interesting. We have always eaten as a couple. Then when daughter came along (she's now 2) we ate together, except if our girl is feeling difficult in which case I (ha! good mommy!) park her in front of a dvd to eat. But I've decided the only way I can get back into my long-lost daily exercise routine, which I dearly miss, is for me to skip out once or twice a week and go get my exercise while my husband eats dinner with my daughter. Family meals are important...but for the sake of my health I feel emergency measures are needed.

This reminds me: I heard a pearl of wisdom on NPR yesterday from some investment talking head - "don't confuse volatility with loss." I found that enormously helpful: I am trying to remember that it's not a loss unless you're needing to cash out right now.

I am trying to find a way to work from home so that my husband and I can have more children--I want to be able to stay home with them. I also would just prefer to work from home and "do my own thing". I see that you are a freelance writer. How did you get started? How do you get the work? I don't know where to begin.
