  • Lyla, thanks for the response on my question. She's not quite at the talking stage wherein we can create stories like that. Let's face it - even reading to her can be a challenge right now (the Rainbow Fish bathtime book is read something like this:
"Rainbow Fish was the most beautiful fish in the sea. One day...Amelie ripped the book out of Mommy's hands, slammed it shut and threw it over her shoulder into the tub, splash! The end."

Seriously. That's what I say when I read it. But I do like your thoughts about finding different ways to engage her and help her with the fine motor skills while not making her feel as though she can't do it. I have a few budding ideas from that.

Do you mind if I add you as a frien?

  • I went here expecting you to complain about your 36 hour day and bad bosses but I guess your title about 36 hour days is for some of the other unlucky souls out there...of which there are many.

Glad to hear you're doing well.

  • Hi Lylah-Thanks for the tips and reassurance. I appreciate the advice, and I had a hunch his picky eating could be due to several factors (asserting his autonomy probably being the greatest contributing). I had fun reading your profile, too. And, although my munchkins are so young, the final 30 minute stretch before dinnertime, my husband and I spend watching an episode of Backyardigans with them. Our personal favorite episodes are "Into the Deep," and "The Giant Problem." Happy Holidays! Meredith

  • Glad to spread the info Lylah. I'm still trying to figure everything out, so hopefully this area is good for responding to a comment.

  • Anne of Green Gables...
One of my very favorite forgotten reads. I loved them all. Thanks for reminding me of how much I loved those stories.
