What is your best tip for easing your kids back into the routine of school?

When my oldest started sleeping in her own bed at 2, she started waking up at really odd hours in the morning. We decided to put a night light on a timer to turn off at about 7:30am. We told her that when the light went off it was time to get up. This helped her to realize that if she woke up and the light was on it was okay for her to go back to sleep. Because we have been doing this so long, she is quite used to an alarm. Now we use a real alarm clock that has some very pleasant options for waking up like a giggle or birds chirping.
