  • I do the last minute dinner scramble, too. Wish I could be more organized there, but that would just take more time to plan than to actually do. So maybe doing things last-minute is, in itself, a time-saver??!!

Hey, Kathy, I do that too with the mail. Good tip.

  • Lilymane - I think I need to work on Tip #2. I cook dinner a few times a week and then we eat leftovers rest of the days, but sometimes there is this last minute scramble to figure out what exactly dinner is...

  • Tip 1 - I don't know if it's technically streamlining, but my day goes MUCH more smoothly when I take the time the night before to write down three things to do when I first get up. I write them down so my brain doesn't try to remember them all night (=stresses me out). I try to make them concrete, quickly achievable things - not "research thus and such". I get up, get the kids delivered, and then start in without wandering around my office/studio getting distracted. I don't have a scientific way of measuring how much time it saves me but it FEELS like it saves me at least an hour.
Tip 2 - I make sure I know what's for supper before 9 am. Sometimes I know a day or more in advance . (

  • Oh, like that one exactly - I try to do this, but need to get more strict about it. I'd like to streamline whatever I can - to squeeze out more time from a day:)

  • What exactly are you looking to streamline? I might be able to give more specific tips if I know where you are struggling. Off the top of my head one thing I do is touch mail once. When I open it I either recycle it, file it or pay it. Although most bills are actually paid online now.
