Do you and your partner work opposite shifts? If so, how do you handle it? I am finding it difficult!”

Comments so Far...

  • Not anymore. . .but we did this for about 1.5 years back in 2002-2003. At the time our oldest son was not yet in school & the second one wasn't born. A couple things that helped were that my husband tried to come meet me at work for lunch (my lunch/his breakfast) a few times per week, or I occassionally met him for his lunch at 9 pm. He also tried to keep his sleep schedule as close to normal as possible so he wasn't sleeping all weekend while my son and I were doing other things. Still, even though we made a good effort trying to make it work, I would have a plan for not living this way long-term, if possible. We had some major problems during this period in marriage & the shift work didn't help. I'm sure all our problems were not work-related, but if you have ANY issues, being on opposite schedules will magnify them.
