For the holidays - Do you prefer giving (and receiving) one large gift or a few smaller gifts? Why?”

I love to give a bunch of smaller gifts it makes it last longer.

Honestly, I don't care. What I want most in gift getting is a surprise. For giving, it totally varies. For my husband, father's day, his birthday, and our anniversary fall within two weeks of each other, so I often give him one large combined gift in June for all 3. Once it was a video ipod, once a dirt bike. Sometimes, we can't afford anything at all, or only something small...

For giving, it depends on who it is. My kids get one "main" gift and several smaller gifts. My husband gets several mid-range gifts. The rest of my family get one gift apiece. Hmm. I think what I'm saying is that I don't GIVE "large" gifts, aren't I?

For receiving, I think I prefer what I get: several presents of vaying sizes. I've never had the chance to find out how I would feel about one large gift, because it's never happened!! I think, though, that several smaller gifts is my preference because then there's a bit of a process. If it were just one gift, it would be opened -- and then it would be over. Too fast.

Of course, I've also decided that when the kids are a bit older, I'm going to ask that people make donations to a particular charity in my name, instead of giving me gifts. Right now, that would disappoint my youngest child; in a few more years, she'll appreciate this as a gift, too. I'm looking forward to that, in fact.

Well with the kids I usually get them several smaller toys and games, and 1 big present. I prefer several smaller gifts because I know I will get atleast 4 gifts that my boys picked out by themselves-yes they may be something I will never use or even like-but I always find it interesting what they were thinking when they went shopping and they look so proud when I ooh and ahhh over the gifts-but my husband can always give me 1 big gift hahaha
