Usually. BUT I take "sick days" when I'm not ill. My rationale? I work from home with small children. Any illnesses, I have almost certainly picked up from them, so I don't need to worry about spreading contagion. I have sick days in my contract, but since I can work when I'm sick, generally, I hate to waste them.

So I use them when I'm well, for mental health breaks -- which I tend to need more than physical health breaks!
It depends on how sick I am. If I am vomiting, I'd have t o say no.
Yes, Most of the time. For the last year I have been home with my granddaughter and so I have been very fortunate to be able to continue my career as well as venture out into more independant businesses.
Yes
It depends. I used all of my sick days up for maternity leave, so if I do take the time off I may not get paid for it. Then again, if I am truly sick and/or exhausted, no amount of money is worth it! Sometimes you just need a break! That is priceless.

Of course I do! I work for myself. I am a horrible boss - I never give out sick days! :)
I usually try to sleep as much as possible so I can get well quickly.

I am working sick today! I rarely want to give up a day -- especially this year, with baby #2 coming -- when I know I'll likely need it for when the kids are sick. It's especially hard not to work when Monday is one of my work from home days. But boy, do I feel yucky today. :(
All the time! If I were you, though, I'd call in the next time. Your boss isn't going to cut you any slack or give you kudos for coming in and working when you're feeling like crap, so the only person who will take care of you is you.

I need to listen to my own advice, too... but still!
For me it depends on the work culture. I happen to work at a place that is stingy about workers taking time off. So I tend to work when I'm sick. Besides, I want to save my sick days for when my son is sick. I also had wisdom teeth taken out and could have used the extra time (they were difficult extractions and the healing was slow), but I don't have that same kind of immediate review of my work the way you do. I think my being here sort of underscored my commitment to the company, which was a good thing for me. - Paula.
