We have The Cleaning Authority clean the house every two weeks. The cost is not that big either.

When I was pregnanant with my second baby my mother-in-law (i have a great one) gave me three months of weekly cleaning service for my babyshower. I now ask for them from family at Christmas, Birthdays, Mother's day, Valentines, annaversaries... I space them out and get one at least once a month. This allows me me time:)

Now that I AM THE MAID/HOUSEKEEPER...I REALLY, really, really, really, really, really wish I had one.

I wish I had a maid, a cook, a laundry service, a lawn service, a nanny..and today, I'm thinking, a husband service (ohh, was that my out loud typing!?!). Cleaning services are the best --they keep your house workload down, less stress, less clutter, happier mom..I don't have one right now (tight budget) but a once every two weeks is good timing for us when we can swing it.

I have a housekeeper team that comes in every other week. They are my saviors. I hate to clean - I mean, really hate it - and they do a great job. Every so often I do have to remind them about something, but 99 percent of the time I come in and the house is cleaner than it would have ever been had I been doing the cleaning. They are a sister team, not a service, and I pay them well and keep them happy because they really do help me maintain my sanity. I would give up a lot of things before I gave up my housekeepers. There is no feeling like walking into my house in the evening and everything is picked up and immaculate, and I didn't have to do any of it :) I love it.

I also have a bi-weekly cleaning service. Like klg, I have had some quality issues. The master bath tile shower got progressively dirtier after the first cleaning. Despite that hassle, it's sooo worth it. I used to be able to keep up, before we had a 2nd kid, before my oldest needed homework help every night, when my job was a lower, less demanding level, when my husband wasn't running his own business out of the dining room, and before my oldest played baseball. Now, it's either have someone else do it or live like slobs.

We have a service that comes every other week. I have gone through three services because the first clean was great and the quality slipped. I do find the night before the service comes I am doing a lot of pick-up, but once the clothes and other things are put away (which should have been done earlier in the week - I just get lazy) I can relax.

I found myself spending the weekends doing a lot of catch-up and cleaning and not a lot of playing and relaxing. With this service I have a lot more time to play with my two boys. For me the money is well worth it. I say if you can afford it, then go for it!

I will say what we did that was an initial cost but worth every penny is the Irobot Roomba and Scooba. We have hardwoods throughout, and I vacuum my entire downstairs daily, mop one room and vacuum one room upstairs daily (rotate these rooms, as they are used less). My floors have never been so clean, and when I do my weekly deep clean, it takes less then an hour for the bathrooms, kitchen and to dust. They are a God send. And I know over 20 people now that have them, and everyone loves them, most people even name them.

I also no longer worry about if friends stop by, having a giant hair ball fly out from under the couch. We have 3 dogs and 1 cat. Just food for thought.

I would LOVE to have a cleaning service to come in, maybe every other week. I think it would be worth the money to have someone do the stuff I avoid - mopping, bathrooms, dusting, etc. Then when the weekend came I wouldn't have to worry about these things, and I'd still feel like my house was relatively clean! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to talk my husband into it. He doesn't think it's worth spending money on when we can do it ourselves.
