I am doing a questionare about mom's using slings and strollers for their infants. Does anyone have any input? i.e. how long do you use them for? does one have more advantages than others? ”

  • Being in the city I needed a light wt stroller and I found the Inglesina Zippy- I was able to close it and open it with one hand while holding my son. It went from new born till now. I also bought a smaller stroller for plane travel - we bought a chico stroller which did not last at all and then we went to the Maclaren which we still have (it has traveled to Europe- Florida) and is still wonderful. For outings I did use a front carrier (zoo, parks, grocery store).

  • Infant: snap and go stoller with adaptable car seat. The best invention in my book.
baby Bjorn for my house cleaning and walking around up until 8 months.
A nice lighweight stroller is key and one that snaps out on it own is really key.

    I have had Peg perego..give it a 6
    Mclarren give it a 7

Got a double stroller when DD came along. Phil and Ted E3, LOVE IT!
A little side note. Is it me or am I the only that thinks the stroller has gotten a little out of hand lately. They have become a little like a car for some people.

  • For my first I used only a stroller (he hated the sling)...then I had twins and I had to use a sling and stroller or double-stroller! For my last baby, the sling has been wonderful...I have my hands available to hold my twins hands and the baby is safely tucked up against me! This is how I have gone grocery shopping with all of them. My baby is now almost 10months old & its getting harder as she is getting heavier, so I doubt I will be using the sling much longer!

  • i never used a sling... just strollers! when he was an infant we had the carseat/stroller combo and a carseat holder thing that was a little smaller (protable) than the big huge stroller. Then when he got older (maybe a year?) we got a light weight fold it up stroller since he was too heavy to actually carry in the carseat! lol!

  • I liked the slings for my first child, but then they seemed more akward (maybe they stretched). The baby was all over the place. Plus I found it hard to get things done for the older child when the second child was in the sling. I guess I started to worry about the safety. I did like the baby carriers. They were much sturdier, safer. Plus, the baby was just as close. Strollers: couldn't live without them My favorites allow you to safely clip on the carrier. Especially when baby was asleep or if it was freezing outside.

  • I use both, and love both at different times. I love to use my stroller when shopping at the mall, or going for long walks or going anywhere that I don't have to fit in tight corners. I love my sling for social events. My baby has just started getting stranger anxiety and it helps her to be close to me, but the weight gets distributed in the sling, so I can hold her for hours with no back pain whereas if I just hold her I hurt after a while. I've used the swing since the very first month, and it's been awesome. I had to wait a little while to use her stroller because she didn't like laying in it at first. Both are great tools for different times and different purposes.
