Do you try to limit your kids candy intake during the holidays (i.e. Easter)?”

  • We seriously try to limit our 2 & 4 yr old as much as possible.

In the Easter eggs we put stickers, erasers, little figures, and some candy.

They were allowed to eat 3 eggs of candy that day. ( approx 12 jelly beans )

Then they had bunny cookies for dessert.

ON a regular basis, they get a cookie after lunch. And for snack they get fruit. After dinner they can have another cookie if they make 'all gone' and eat their veggies.
then they get popcorn for their 8p movie each night- so we can eat dinner!

  • My step-daughter is still getting candy, but we've been trying to spoil her less and so we've been making finding the gift be part of the gift. My sister-in-law and my mom both gave her candy and we're giving her a Canbury Creme Egg and a Reese's Egg and possibly a few little pieces of candy. But nothing like in previous years where she's gotten a basketful of candy. In her Easter basket there are pencils, a coloring book, a reading book, some bunny ears, some lipgloss and some nailpolish. I also made up a treasure hunt so that it's more of an activity than just handing her the basket.

  • I am posting an answer to my own question! I had a challenge this year trying to figure out how to do a fun Easter egg hunt for my two year-old that didn’t include candy in every egg. I liked the idea I came up with so much I decided to share it. We (my husband and I) got her a Dr. Seuss book. I scanned the cover and printed it off on cardstock. We then cut the picture into 9 large puzzle pieces. Put a piece in each egg and after she found all the eggs containing pieces she put the puzzle together and received the actual book! She had fun and I was happy she didn’t receive a ton of candy (we still included candy in a few eggs).

Hope you enjoyed your holiday:) ~Lisa
