Oh yes. We've been trying to figure out how to do this for years. I think it's invaluable for the kids. Especially as homeschoolers.

I think I would - especially if there was a set time frame. Like for a one year assignment or something like that. It would be very difficult to be away from family, but I think it would be such a great experience for us and our son. I lived and worked abroad for a year during college, and it was an amazing experience. I would love to have that type of experience as a family!

My husband really wants to do this--his parents went to Israel for a year with him and his 2 brothers when he was 10. I think it sounds awful--in a strange country without my support network, having to figure out everything new... ugh. I would have to leave my work also, and that just sounds like a bad idea for my ego!
It is just too much change for me. I struggle with being flexible as it is--this would push me over the edge!

I had worked for one week in an other country.
But I would never go longer. Here is my Family and my friends are here. too.
I would perhaps go I have no kids.

Absolutely!!! I think it is a great way to learn other cultures and introduce your children to new traditions. I also think that living in another country will open up your children's way of thinking....Fortunately, both my husband and I had a chance to live abroad (although not together). I think it'll be great for us to do it together with our son. If it's Europe - then you'll be very close to so many countries. If it's Asia - you'll get to learn a whole different culture and visit the entire continent!

We have talked about this and agree that it would be a great experience for our child. They adjust easier than we do. Some of our family would never forgive us for it though - not a big enough detractor but something we would face head-on.

If you have never lived abroad, this is a great way to do it. I grew up abroad between Europe and South America and though it may have been difficult as a child to move so much, it's an experience that I will never forget. It gives you a different perspective on the world. Aside from that, it's fun to learn and live in a different culture and experience it closely. Though it may feel lonely at first if you are used to being around your loved ones and friends, keep in mind that there are good people in the world wherever you may go.

We are in the Army and we hope to get stationed in Germany, I think it would be great for all children to experience other cutures!
