OK, must admit, asked this because I was really wiped out and really sick -- thank you for all the suggestions. I've failed to get rest -- I know, I know, need to work on that -- but I think I've had more healthy food and emergen-c and tea than I ever thought possible. Now need to find a way to chill a bit and get more sleep -- you guys are a motivation!
2-to-3 Advil (depending on the presence and level of pain), a cup of herbal tea with 2 fresh cloves, honey, orange slice, and cinnamon every 4-8 hrs, warm PJs and SLEEP! Lipton noodle or chicken noodle soup works in between when my appetite comes back.

depends on the type of sick, but i tend to view sick as your bodies way of saying SLOW DOWN!!!! or maybe EAT SOME VEGGIES lol!! so yes, sleep and healthy vitamin packed foods (much more potant than any pill!) are the answer. i didnt say it was an easy answer :) but taking a couple of days to heal will save you weeks of illness, not to mention possible worse ills...
Get someone to watch my children, mother, mother in law, husband, nanny. Get a large pot of hot tea with honey, lemon, close the bedroom door, drink the tea, dress warmly and sleep.
this is a tough one considering we work fulltime and are fulltime moms!!! i will put my daughter in front of her favorite movie and just lay back in the leather recliner and rest.
i fall back on emergen-c drinks (tons of vitamin c and they taste great!), liquid goldenseal (just a bit, it's pretty potent) and olive-leaf spray if it's anything throat-respiratory related. and yes, sleep in as vast a quantity as I can get, but it's never enough!

MY MOM!
she is a life saver! Hubby had to work and she came and watched the kids and me!
reall, Sleep.
I was sick in bed for 2 days, barely could walk to the kitchen,
the only thing that made me feel better was sleep.
and lots of water.
a little soup never hurts.
Assuming that my husband is home to watch the kids, my most trusted remedy is SLEEP! Of course, there are those times when that is not possible. I put one of the kids favorite movies in the DVD player, pop them some popcorn, make Kool-aid or juice. Get some throw pillows for them to sit on to watch their movie. I then make a cup of herbal tea, and just veg out for a while til hubby gets home.
