  • We try to be as enviro-friendly as possible by shopping for local food in season, buy organic when possible, switched to eco-friendly light bulbs, use green cleaners, reuseable shopping bags etc.

  • We changed out our light bulbs about 2 years ago. We also changed our AC/Heating unit and all kitchen appliances to more energy friendly ones (worked like a charm in lowering our utility bills). We started using the green bio friendly cleaner from WalMart and I'd like to get the green grocery bags. We used alot of plastic cups and paper plates I'd like to stop doing that, but no one likes to wash dishes in our house so the dishwasher would get more unecessary use. If you have any suggestions please forward.

  • We recycle. My husband is a real stickler about this. We use cloth bags for shopping, unplug most appliances when not in use, use energy efficient light bulbs, use diapers that are chlorine free and buy organic food and cleaning supplies whenever possible. I love that we do all this, what I dont like is how they charge so much more money for green and organic products. I think that is a shame.

  • it's funny - many of the things i/'we do were not really origionally 'earth friendly'. electornic billing was just so mcuh easier! and bonus, less paper. We also are reaplacing light bulbs, it's a no brainer. I am going to buy some of the reuseable bags - this is on my list for next week! so excited!
Our city forces recycling - if someting is in your trash that can be recycled, they fine you. a bit over the top but it gets the point accorss (though i havent been fined and i am sure a few things have snuck into the trash!) and at work they did away with all the disposable cups and gave us all a company logo mug and water bottle instead. LOL it has severly cut down on my coffee and oatmeal consumption becuase i just hate washing them! (which i am sure saves water, right?)
i also use Method brand - i didnt even realize they were 'green' until recently! what a happy accident :)

  • Niki - I bought 10 reusable bags at the grocery store and was able to get all of my basket in them (I only do a major shopping trip every couple of weeks). They are remarkably roomy. With the flat bottom on the bag, they fit nicely in the car and don't fall overl. After groceries are unloaded, the bags go back into the car, ready for the next time.

  • We use reusable shopping bags and recycle as much as we can. Also switching to the special light bulbs as our bulbs burn out. WE also use all Method cleaning products and have switched to organic beauty products. And I've shopped local farmers markets for years, not because it's greener but because it's fresher!

  • We are trying to be more environmentally friendly. Our town went to the large recycling bins and limiting our trash output to one container, so we really have to watch what we throw away. I get really excited on Wednesdays when I put out the trash and it's only half full.
We are replacing our existing bulbs with the environmentally nice ones.
I really want to buy the reuseable shopping bags, but I wonder how that will work when we do our big shopping that typically fills up a whole cart. Do you find that you shop more often and get smaller loads, or do you just have a lot of bags?

  • We are working toward being more environmentally friendly. We've replaced most of the light bulbs at the house with the more environmentally friendly ones and we make a much more concerted effort to recycle as much as we can. We've started using green cleaning products. I bought reusable bags for shopping and have started using those. Really, we're just trying to gradually look at things that are more earth friendly and make those changes. This week's project is to have all of our bills sent electronically instead of getting the paper version.
