If you are moving into a new place - would you buy new furniture so that everything goes with the new design of your new home or would you try to keep old furniture, even if it's not a great match?”

  • We are actually in the process of selling our house and moving to a new one. We threw out a ton of stuff. But, we kept the stuff we love. We will integrate old with new.

I'm not interested in the House Beautiful or Architectural Digest approach to decorating right now. Can you imagine what kids and dogs would do to that?!

We will have to buy new stuff. I wish we could do it all at once. Although, I think that living in the new house for a bit may be better as we can figure out how we want things.

Kate: We have been in our house for 10 years and never were able to figure out our bedroom furniture. I can so relate. I'm wondering if in the new house we will have the same issue...

  • I'm with Kate. I'd probably get a few new things to try and tie it together until I could replace it all.

  • lol if i had the funds i would always opt for new funriture! why not? but realistically i would say probably make what you have work and then slowly figure out what you really want after living there a while. though - i have been in my house for 6 years now and still dont really know what i want!
