I believe the older I become the more risk I am willing to take to enjoy life. I left a cororate job of 33 years to stay at home to watch my two grandchildren. That was big step for me and starting my home business was another giant step in my life.
I am a bit of a control freak, but I believe that success comes (in all forms) from taking risks, so I'd like to think that I do take some!
In my field, risk takers are often skilled teachers because they read the research and really know their students. Unfortunately, current legislation discourages risk-taking. Ultimately, it puts creative teachers into other fields where their knowledge and abilities are valued.
Risk taker. It's much more fun this way!
I have always been pretty risk-averse. Within the last couple of years though, I've been much more of a risk-taker. Leaving a corporate job with a steady paycheck was pretty scary but I was ready to take the risk to find happiness. That risk has worked out pretty well for me so now I'm not as afraid to take a risk. I still enter into things cautiously but I'm willing to take a chance now.
Here's the odd thing -- I don't think of myself as someone who likes to take risks but especially in my career, I've done it all the time. I told a friend the other day that I keep looking for stability and she laughed at me -- said that's absolutely the opposite of how she would describe me.
Absolutely the risk taker...good thing I have my husband to bring me back down to earth!
Hmmm, let´s see. I up and left my home country (Canada), in 2002, after selling everything I owned and jumped on a bus to Central America. With only a backpack, a couple changes of clothes and about a grand in the bank, I headed off to parts unknown, where they spoke a language I didn´t understand . . . I guess I´m a risk-taker. ;)

Depends on the day, though. Some mornings I wake up and wonder who that brave girl was that travelled down here on her own!
I like to go with the flow, my motto is pray, do your best and God will do the rest. So I try not to worry and take opportunities as they come.
