I have to say that I do not deal with stress well but I have to say that stress pushes me to "fix" whatever it is so I can live a less stressed and more balanced existence.
Usually yes. it is funny (shhhh ... don't tell this to my employer) but under stress, I'm usually extremely calm, more concise, have more energy, do things faster, find sharper ideas, give very precise direction, lose weight and look for more creative solutions to the given problem. On the flip side, when I'm stressed, I'm less likely to sugar coat everything (well, I'm from Europe anyway, so I usually get away with that excuse :)), less likely to put up with Irrelevance (in general), more likely to cut it short and get to action -- like a person on a life or death type of mission.
I act in a similar way when an idea gives me "wings" and I cannot even sleep before I turn that idea up side down, left to right, every angle, every centimeter (well, inch) -- funny isn't it? Stress & adrenaline - are best sisters.
Does this make me "best candidate for stressful situations"?

No. NO. I don't. In fact, I took a sabbatical at work (finance manager for a Fortune 50 company) because I was so tired - in part from letting myself get too stressed out about too many things (work, the kids, etc.) As I prepare to head back to work, I am really trying to be more conscious of my reaction to life...and just calm down. We shall see...
I could definitely deal with stress a little bit better. For example, this past weekend, when everyone in my house was sick, I really felt like I was pushed to the brink. I think, because of the basic complete lack of time I have for myself, the stress tends to build up. Definitely something I have to work on.
It all depends on what kind of stress it is.

kids all day...
work....
family...
health....

I try my best to slow my emotions down and say "o.k. god gives you what you can handle...so deal"
I find the calmer I remain the better off I am.
If I let myself go it does no one any good and makes matters worse.
Not to say I don't blow every now and then - we are human.
I would say that when I was in my twenties, I dealt with stress better than now in my late thirties. Also, I might add that as I got older, I did not want to cope with stress, I wanted to wind down. It is better for my health and well being.
