Does it drive you crazy when stores don't list the price-per-pound on grocery items? Is it just me who can't calculate which is the better deal in my head? Hmm, the biiig box of Goldfish OR the little bag of Goldfish that's on sale? Why can't I comparison shop? Why didn't I pay attention in math way back when?

Oh, Daisy - so envious of your skill w. numbers!
Yeah, I hate that, too. I gave up on the math, though, and just started keeping track of the stuff I buy most often and the prices charged for those things at different stores. I also try to keep in mind the basics... you pay more for packaging, generally, so 10 mini bags will usually cost more per pound than one big bag or box. I also try to remind myself that I'm not saving money by buying the big box if I can't use it up before it goes bad -- wasting food is never good for the budget!

I find myself (much too often!) doing the math in my head. It helps that our store lists the unit price most of the time, so I don't have to do it very often. It helps that I taught 6th grade math, including ratio and proportion, for 9 years, too!

That drives me batty. It seems like such a simple convenience they could provide us!
Maybe it just frustrates me because I ALWAYS mean to put the calculator back in my purse, and I never actually do it.
Maybe I should go do it now.....
