Consistency, you have to stay with the program or your kids don't learn things and keep them. I wish more of my students parents were consistent because it really affects them even at a high school age.

KC - me too! i am usually very impatient - but with my son it is just different. I am much more patient and understanding. I think it is also a touch of like Genesis said about being able to put myself in his 'shoes' and understand where he is coming from and then tayloring my response/reaction to that perspective.
Remembering what it was like to be so small and trying to put things in terms the kids can understand.
Consistency. If you said "NO" stick to it.
