  • I was a military wife for almost 4 years. It was hard but honestly I miss it. Don't get me wrong I love my husband and I miss him when he's gone but I miss the Navy lifestyle. I wasn't cut out for civilian life. We are getting used to him being out now, but I really do miss it.

God Bless all our Military here and abroad

  • Thanks Stacey. I know what you mean.
We are in the throes of the immigration process. Not sure how ling that's going to take. I am Canadian and he is American. Hopefully it will not be long before we are together.
If anybody out there knows how long this usually takes, I welcome the information.

  • We spent the first year of our marriage apart. I hated it. We traveled alot and spent lots of time on the phone. I was glad it was over - it is really tough, but we made it work. I do know couples that live apart for their entire marriage and are happy - not for me though.

  • Thanks for the replies. We got married three months ago and we are findiing it tough. We hope to be togehter in a few months, so in the meantime we burn up the phone lines and thank God for new technology. We talk over the computer and use the web cam. That has helped a lot.
I will be moving to California in the Fall. Anyone near San Jose???

  • I haven't but my uncle and his wife had a long distance marriage for 4 years -- she got a job at a university and he could not leave his job to move with her. It was tough, for sure, but they had a regular schedule of when they'd get together and scoured online deals to get cheap plane tickets to make sure it could happen. They now are in one place and have two kids:)

  • Yes - my husband has been sent to Iraq three times over the past few years...each time was a year or more. We corresponded via email, phone, and written letters & pics. If you have a solid connection and the separation is a temporary one - you'll get through it.
