OK, I have been living under a rock. I kind of understand what a personal blog is, but what is it's purpose? How much time does one usually spend blogging? Where do you go to set up a blog? I'm clueless...

I see you have started a blog, but here is more information. Like Genesis, I found blogging to be a great way to record my son's progress, since I'm not a scrapbooker or the best at keeping his baby book up-to-date.

Another blog site is Wordpress. I have a blog over at Blogger, but Wordpress is a little more user-friendly, with some great free additions to using them.

OK, I get it now. This could be fun. I have created my own blog at snivelysnippets.blogspot.com -- how exciting! Thanks for the scoop!
I think everyone has different reasons to start a personal blog. I started mine because I`m a chatterbox and didn`t want to be blabbing about my kids` awesome achievements on my business blog. :) But at the same time, it`s handy because I write down things like when the baby got his first tooth, etc. Even when I don`t have time to add that to his baby book. So I know all that info is safe there. It`s also a place where my friends and family far away can go to check and see what`s going on with my family, even if I haven`t written them in a bit.

As for where to set up a blog, the most popular place seems to be Blogger.com. It`s free. I use my own web host, but that`s because I already had my own host for the business blog. Time is completely up to you. You can put in 5 minutes a day, or 10 a week. I usually write every day, but most of my posts contain photos and are pretty quick to write, so it`s about 5-10 min. per day.
