Do you ever take vacations without the kids? Who watches them when you go?”

  • My husband's parents kept our girls for us while we spent a few days in Las Vegas! It was great! Of course there was a little bit of guilt, but I came back so refreshed and happy that I think it was a positive experience for everyone. I think time away to relax and have fun on your own is important and helps you to be a better mom!

  • Oh, god, YES!!! To save my sanity, YES! The first one was 4 days during our regular vacation when my parents took her so hubby and I could have some alone time. The 2nd one was the cruise that my hubby won when daughter was about 10 months old. My parents kept her and hubby has pictures of me on the phone at every port phone booth, talking to my mom about how she was. After that, they would take her for a few days every summer so that we could have OUR time. They lived 360+ miles away from us, but it was good "bonding time" for them and her.

Nobody says you have to be clued to your children 24/7/365. That's NOT a good thing for anyone.

  • I wish!! I envy people who have mom/dad nearby to help out in this way. We have friends that I'd trust and I'm sure they'd say yes, but I'd never impose when it comes to toddler-care!!
