Do you feel that McCain and Palin should stop the people who throw out personal attacks in the rallies? ”

Comments so Far...
I think this is thought provoking.....
Ponder the following:
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?
(The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?
What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

After seeing where you're from, I know you understand fully who it is/was. As I've said before, I'm an independant. I don't and won't claim either party. My husband is a moderate Republican, but when asked, he will tell people he's a Druid!
I voted for that person 2x and after that fiasco at the Breaks, I wasn't going to be fooled again. I should have known better after he went on national TV (the Today show) and called his WHOLE state workforce lazy, then tried to privatize everything he could. We found a LOT of smoke and mirrors that (no pun intended here) Jo-6-pack couldn't see through. In fact, Virginia had the chance to have its first female governor and she blew it cause she wouldn't leave and go "press the flesh", as my daddy used to call it. She was unmarried (still is, in fact), and his campaign circulated rumors about a "relationship" between her and Patsy Cornwell (who ended up supporting him, not her).
My father was a devote Republican, a staunch member of the NRA, but he was also pro-choice and pro-ERA. Toward the end of his life, he lamented that the Party would end up destroying itself as long as it continued to pander to ultra-conservatives. He died in 99 and looks like maybe he was right.

There's bias on BOTH sides. However, considering that loose cannons with absolutely NO SENSE that God gave a flea out there, to deliberately do what the M/P group does with these groups, is, imho, the same as yelling "fire" in a crowded room.
I also found this on MSNBC's site today and found it fascinating:

The main thing is that the guy behind all this KNOWS the stuff is NOT true, but doesn't give a flying rat's behind. Now, I'm sorry, but think how many fools have taken this crap to heart and you absolutely HAVE to understand WHY I have a problem with what the M/P group is doing with certain groups of people.

Anybody watch Keith Oberman on MSNBC Tuesday Night?
JDaffron, I remember that cowboy hat golden boy with his feet on a desk........your talking about. Yes and you are very correct they play on people. But I had to explain to my very smart 11yr old son what and why this was all being said. He sat quietly wheels a turning and said "mom what if they do what they say, would Mr McCain feel bad?" Nice hunh....

Now, to give equal due, extremism cuts both ways and either is no worse or better than the other. But deliberately inflaming and inciting a crowd whose participants aren't exactly noted for being educated or knowledgable (aka, not exactly having both oars in the water in the first place) is, imho, akin to yelling "fire" in a crowded room. And those who enable and condone it are as guilty as those who do it. And they should be willing to shoulder the blame should someone take them up on what they want them to do. If not, they're total hypocrites.
Course, that's just MHO.

started ? I doubt it. Racism is still alive in the great USA....it is just hidden below the surface. But thank
God that not all people are ...their are people that do not judge people by the color of their skin. Wouldn't it be so nice to live in a world where people were really treated equal. What a nice dream. I want to live in that world.

We're 3 weeks out and the election is starting to get down and dirty. However, if you look back in history, it's been FAR worse. Thing was, back then, it wasn't instantanous.
My question to the McCain handlers would be this - you encourage the candidates to stir up the ignorance. Are you willing to take the full blame IF someone were to act because of your tactics? And with those who are mentally unbalanced and/or ignorant, it's a VERY real possiblity.

encouraged it in the beginning. Now it has gotten way out of control. They Booed McCain today when he
tried to settle them down ( on Yahoo) So even he has lost control of what they have started. To me it is not
a good way to run a campaign. It encourages hatred...a bad thing..something we do not need. If if changes it would be a nice thing..but I won't keep my fingers crossed waiting.
