How many work-related social events do you attend? Does it cut into your family time?”

  • I don't go to any. It's kind of a joke at work. Everyone knows that I won't go. What can I say? I'd rather give my kids baths and feed them dinner than go out. I have severe mommy-guilt.

  • None! I work from home and also care for my mother a 3 day aweek dialysis person and have a 11yr old son and a husband and tons of chores and by the end of the day I am lucky that I get to any makeup on!

  • two or three times a year. it does cut into family time because they're usually held on weekends and children aren't allowed. so i feel guilty as hell attending. never have a good time. :(

  • I actually work at a website and they do social events all the time.
There are a lot of during company hours events which I do attend, company picnic, halloween party, etc.
Then once a month they do a happy hour. I only go when it is in my town.
Its nice to interact with coworkers after hours to get a sense of who they are and what they are all about.
Now, there are plenty of single people here and others without children who go out often. probably once a week,. I dont do that. I am too busy.
But once a month is nice for a couple of hours.
    IMO

  • Huh? I guess maybe because I work for the State, we don't have such things. Besides, who's got the time to do that sort of thing anyway? By the time I get home, dinner, errands, etc, a work related social event is the absolute furtherest non-priorty down on the list. Maybe one of these days I'll have time to think about doing something like that....
