We go out. My son is 2 1/2 and we've been out all 3 New Years since he was born and he loves it. Last year my dad's cousin had a party and it was people from 0-80 years old and my son had a blast dancing and playing bongos. This year, we went to the party first and then drove to meet up with people at the beach, which was what we normall have done for the past 6 years. My son will usually stay up, he seems to have no issues with staying up past midnight - we try to encourage a long nap during the day - and he loves the fireworks and parties. The best part happened to be that he slept in until almost 10am the next day, as opposed to his usual 6:30am wake time. This gave mom and dad time to rest. I don't drink alcohol and we have an SUV so I feel like I'm safe to drive us all home.

For the past 6 years, we've stayed in, due to our little bundle of joy (who is now a big-boy of joy). This was the first year since Alex's birth that we've been awakened by the crazy fireworks display in our neighborhood--we got up and went to the window to watch, then crawled sleepily back under the covers (Alex in the middle of OUR bed) and drifted back off. Lovely!
