If your kids are in school, how much time do they spend on homework every night and how old are they? Do you think it's a lot or just right?”

  • My first grader spends 15 - 30 minutes a nght, depending on how much he goofs off and procatinates. He could probably get it done in 15 minutes each night, but I think he likes the attention he gets from whining about it.

  • 20-30 minutes a night. Probably about right for 2nd grade. Fridays are often homework free. To keep from total laziness I mandate reading over the weekend (since she hates to read, but the skills are essential).

  • My preschoolers (3) spend about 10 minutes per school night - more if they feel like it. I think this is fine as long as the work can be done independently. Kids should have some totally homework-free days, though.
