What is your favorite cheap date night idea?”

  • Currently my fave cheap date idea is hitting the movie theater and making popcorn & nachos dinner. It's horrible and bad for us, but we don't see movies very often.

My fave of all time was when we were in college and way poor...we'd grab some pizza from the place down the street (living in Lil Italy in Chicago was awesome!) and go up to the roof of our apt building and just hang out. Ah, young love.

  • Ice skating on Frog Pond on the Boston Common and then going to a cafe for hot cocoa.

  • We love to catch up on things we've DVR-ed over a bottle (or 2) of wine! but when we want to go out for a date, we love to go bowling! we definitely don't do it often enough, but it is fun and gets us out of the house. Come to think of it, I should plan a bowling night soon...

  • Hmmm. I'd have to say shipping the kids off with friends who owe us, and finally using some of those restaurant gift cards i've got stashed!

  • I'd have to agree--movie nights are the best!

  • Cheap Chinese food eaten straight from the cartons in front of a DVD! Even cheaper (and more spectacular) is sitting out on our porch rockers and watching a thunderstorm, but that's a bit harder to plan. ;)

  • We like to grab a bottle of wine and maybe some brownies that we've just made and sit on our old fashioned front porch watching the evening begin. Sometimes we'll play cards and catch up each other's lives.

  • Blanket, telescope, baby monitor on -- $0
Cheap champagne and strawberries -- $10
Gazing at the stars, just the two of us -- priceless!

  • I don't even remember the last time my husband and I had a date night - cheap or otherwise. Realistically (as in what I could get my husband to actually do), let's say on a night that the kiddo is with her mom (no babysitter required!), picking up Chinese take-out and then eating it in front of the TV while we catch up on the shows that we both watch (Grey's Anatomy, House, etc).
