When considering and buying professional services - do you like to "see" (a picture) of who you are dealing with? Would you be more likely to buy from someone if you see them first (vs a site where the owner's photo is not displayed)? Or does it not matter to you at all?”

  • I am in the same boat as Nataly- I prefer to see a picture of the person I am working with in any service industry unless I met them first in person.

  • A photo isn't a deal breaker for me. A website and marketing materials that have well written, useful content are usually the biggest drivers when I'm researching professional services.

I do think it depends on the service, though. For some things, a picture is part of the marketing package while for others types of services it can be a little stuffy.

If I were looking for a web professional (like you) the portfolio would be the first thing that would draw me in and be the biggest factor in deciding if I wanted you on my short list of people to call.

  • Personally, I do. I like to see the writer of a book I am reading, the author of a blog, and the person who might be working with me. I've worked with many providers before whom I'd never seen or met, but my preference is to see the person's photo, especially if we're going to work together for a while.
