I work full time four days a week outside the home. I enjoy the rewards of cleaning my house, but also know the time constraints. Do any of you hire someone to clean your house? What do you think about that?”

  • My oldest daughter and her husband both work full-time and now with a 1 yr. old they have started to have
someone come in and help keep everything clean. She gets help about twice a month. Makes life much easier for her. Me I just help by watching the baby for them - his Daddy drops him off and Mommy picks him up when she is done work. It all works out. I love being able to spend the time with him- he's so cute!

  • I hired someone to clean our house the week after I got married and we didn't have any children. My husband and I love a clean house but hate cleaning. We both worked and did not want to spend our days off arguing and cleaning. So for over 20 years we have had a house cleaner. The key is you do what's best for your situation. If you choose to spend your money on a house cleaner it's your perogative...it's a matter of choice and priorities.

  • I work full time (sometimes more than full time) outside the home, with a one hour roundtrip commute. Cleaning has never been a forte and certainly isn't a priority with everything else going on. We have someone come every week to clean and we do minor upkeep in between. It has been such a huge help. After our son was born, we found that we would spend time on weekends cleaning instead of doing family things. And when we traveled on weekends or got sick, well, the house usually just didn't get cleaned that well. My cleaning person is actually on a medical leave right now for about 6 weeks so I do have to clean for the rest of the summer, I'm not looking forward to it!
Also, I've heard of people hiring a sitter so they can get their house cleaning and errands done. That's one way to approach it I guess, but I'd much rather hire someone to clean so I can play with my son.

  • We have a cleanng service that comes in every other week and we do light cleaning in between.

It costs $99 and it's worth every penny!

  • My husband and I used to do our own cleaning for years but a few months after our daughter was born we realized that we'd rather cut down on takeout and hire someone to help out with the cleaning. It just saved a few precious hours that we could instead spend together or with our daughter, and it helped us get rid of a frequent source of arguments. (OK, not totally get rid of, but reduce:) We have someone come once every two weeks and do upkeep cleaning in between. It's been a lifesaver.
