Does anyone know civil service laws for Ohio employees? I have been working 8-4 for a while (our business hours are 8-5 and we get an hour unpaid lunch). They way I saw it was I worked 8-4 and my lunch is 4-5 because I am working straight through 8 hours. The reason I do this is bc my husband is a firefighter and works 24 hour shifts and one nightly 8 hour shift. So, I have nobody to get my kids off of the bus at 4:10. It worked out perfect for me to leave at 4 and my boss approved this for me bc he knows I am a good worker. I was recently told (not by my boss, but by coworkers) that this is ILLEGAL to work 8-4 no lunch hour even though I am a salary exempt employee. I am a civil service employee. Does anyone know if this is truly illegal? I cannot find any info on this! Thanks.”
