My husband is in our friend's wedding that was in our wedding, in Florida this December. We live in Michigan, and my son will be about 7 months old by then. I have left him overnight with grandparents about three times and he stays with them everyday while I go to work. I am more worried about myself than anything being so far away for so long. We would be leaving on Friday and coming home on Monday. i really want to go to re-connect with all of my college friends and spend time with my husband, but I am afraid to fly so far away from him for so long. Any thoughts? I know if I don't go I will be terribly jealous that my husband is enjoying himself and I am not there to be a part of it.”

  • Why don't you just take your son with you? My husband's sister got marrried when our son was a couple of months old and we took him with us.

  • When my son was first born, we all went to an out-of-town wedding. We had my friend's mom babysit for a few hours, then I went back to the hotel with the baby while my husband stayed to socialize a little longer. It gave my husband and me time alone, and I was able to visit with old friends, but I didn't have to be away from my newborn for longer than I was comfortable. If you don't have a sitter in Florida, would a Grandparent consider coming with to keep you company and watch your baby for a few hours? I'm sure your friends would want to meet your baby the day after the wedding, too! Just an idea... No matter what you choose, remember that your baby will only be this tiny for so long and these decisions will get easier when he's older!

  • no option for taking the baby? hmm, I would be nervous as well, but I think I would go. especially since the grandparents are so comfortable with him. then again my college friends would be mad if I didnt take him so they could meet him.
