Weekends: Time to relax or pretty hectic for you?”

  • Hectic for me, too much to do and not enough time. Those two days just never seem like enough and they go by so quickly.

  • Depends. Some weekends we have a lot to do, but usually fairly relaxed. We have breakfast out, then she visits her father. If she's not visiting him then we play board games or watch movies. There's no TV during the week so watching movies can be very exciting!

  • Weekends are often crazier than week days. Birthday parties, errands, cooking and cleaning for the week leave little time for R&R. The one lovely treat I enjoy is that 15 minutes after kids' bedtime when I can sit outside sipping a glass of wine and gaze up into the big trees and twinkling stars. It's a great way to unwind.

  • We are usually busier. We have to get some chores done but we usually have a lot of fun things planned too. So we have to cram inchores around our fun.

  • Weekends tend to be just as busy, if not busier, than weekdays. I have gotten better about letting some things go on the weekends so I can spend quality time with my daughter and husband. Now that I am back to work full time, time together is more difficult to come by so I've been making more of an effort to relax and enjoy just being together.

  • Both. We try to keep a balance. Sometimes there are so many events or tasks to be done that I'm actually relieved to have a commute where I am alone. On other unscheduled weekends, it unfolds at its own pace and is truly relaxing. Its helped to not put so much pressure on tasks such as grocery shopping. Last week we decided to skip the weekend trip and challenged ourselves to make the next week meals and school lunches from items we already had in the freezer or cabinets. We relaxed and had great meals!

  • Neither, really. Pretty much another day. Our ex-nanny comes on Saturday mornings until the kids' nap time, so I work from 8 to 3 and again from 9pm to 12. My sister comes on Sundays so I can work a regular day. On Saturday afternoons/evenings, I usually have someplace to go with the girls. Sunday early mornings are for housework and evenings are for getting ready for the kids' school week. The only thing that's harder on the weekend is that with "people" over, I have to provide more grown-up meals, which are a bigger pain to clean up. I am always in a rush trying to clean the kitchen and bathe the kids by their bedtime so I can get to work right after that. But on the positive side, I have far fewer emails, conference calls, and deadlines on the weekends, which makes for a more relaxing work day.

  • My oldest daughter has been having to work a few hours on the weekend...so that usually means I do too. But sometime in December her schedule should go back to "normal". But then it has always been the days to catch-up with the house, stores and whatever other chores are left to do.
