Feeding a family and sticking to a budget can be tough, so we've gathered 10 tips from our members to help you cut down on your grocery bills.
  1. Buy in bulk (and be creative when it comes to storing your goods).
  2. Use leftovers for lunches at work.
  3. Freeze extra meals to avoid buying take-out later. Check out a great collection of crockpot recipes, perfect for freezing, at Ordering Disorder.
  4. Clip coupons -- or print them out online -- but only for things you actually use! Coolsavings.com is a great resource for grocery coupons and discounts.
  5. Buy ingredients instead of prepared products.
  6. Make ethnic meals.
  7. Eat less meat. Beans and tofu are great sources of protein and iron that meat provides and they are a whole lot cheaper.
  8. Dilute the juice -- it reduces sugar intake and increases the value.
  9. Buy generic -- name brands aren't necessarily worth extra.
  10. Stick to your shopping list and don't shop when you're hungry(those little extras you want to just grab at the last minute add up fast).
