Family Craft Ideas

I'm Leah--wife, mother, editor, writer, photographer, and rickrack apologist. There's craftiness in my DNA, but between the kids and my work and the house and the television and my blogs (http://www.agirlandaboy and, among others), I have to keep my projects quick and easy if I hope to finish them before my boys (born December 2008 and July 2012) graduate from college. You're a working mom and you're busy too, but if you still want to get your craft on, join me here for some fun projects!

Do you always forget about St. Patrick’s Day until oops, it’s here? Yeah, me too. Here are five simple last-minute crafts you can do with or for your family to celebrate, just in the nick of time.

Felt Clovers

[Image from Pinterest, with unfortunately no clues as to whose original photo this is.]

I made some of these last year and turned them into pins. (This is a perfect use for leftover felt if you made the easy felt trees for Christmas.)

Clover Treats

I Heart Nap Time posted this five-minute DIY by Talitha of Love, Pomegranate House. All you need is paper, staples/glue/tape, and your favorite gold-wrapped candy. (Mmmm…Rolos…)

Rainbow Parfaits

You know how I love rainbows.

Shamrock Braid

It’s easier than it looks. Oh, to have a little girl!

[From Bowmania]

Bell Pepper Shamrock Stamps

Use green peppers to stamp shamrocks onto craft paper for a St. Patty’s dinner tablecloth.

[From Train Up a Child]

And of course there’s still time to make a rainbow ribbon windcatcher too.

And while I have your attention, Easter’s early this year (March 31, in two and a half weeks!), so here are some ideas if you want to get a jumpstart on that.

Paper Strip Easter Egg Art

I LOVE this idea and am going to steal and modify for all the holidays forever and ever.

Easter Surprise Eggs

I’ve always wanted to make these. (The easy version, for sure.) Maybe this year’s the year?

How are you with planning for the holidays? Are you a Plan-Ahead Polly or a Last-Minute Leah?
